The Mehal International Research Competition is a research competition for high school students. Through this competition, students have an opportunity to win prizes, certificates, and awards. The competition allows them to select a STEM field they are interested in. With this selection, students will write a proposal that includes their solution. It should include the proposed methods in which they will conduct their solution. Additionally, students may write a research article that includes your solution and met. It should include the methods by which you proved the effectiveness of the solution. Your article/proposal must be in accordance with these guidelines:
Guidelines For Submission
Research Paper Competition:
Formatting: Please ensure that the fonts used for the research paper are legible and appropriate. Margins and line spacing should adhere to common formatting guidelines (typically 1-inch margins and double-spaced lines).
Title and Abstract: Provide a clear and descriptive title for your research paper. The abstract should summarize the purpose, methods, results, and conclusions of your study in 150-250 words.
Keywords: Please include 3-5 keywords that accurately represent the main focus of your research. This should be included after the abstract preceding the main body of the paper.
Introduction: Clearly state the research question or objective, provide background information, and outline the significance of your study.
Methodology: Describe the research methodology, including participants, materials, procedures, and data analysis techniques, with enough detail to allow replication.
Results: Present your findings in a clear and organized manner using tables, figures, and graphs as necessary.
Discussion: Interpret the results, discuss their implications, and relate them to existing literature. Address any limitations of the study and suggest ideas for future research.
Conclusion: Summarize the study's main findings and their significance in addressing the research question or objective.
References: Please include all sources cited in the paper in APA citation format.
Author Information: Provide the names, affiliations, and contact information of all authors.
Supplementary Materials (Optional): Provide any additional material that you feel is relevant and important to your research
Research Idea Competition:
Presentation Format: Submit a concise presentation outlining your research idea, implications, and proposed methodology.
Title: Provide an appropriate title for your presentation. Please include your name in the title as well.
Introduction: Introduce your research idea by explaining its significance and potential impact.
Objectives: Please outline your objectives and goals of the proposed research.
Methodology: Explain how you plan to conduct your research.
Implications and feasibility: Discuss resources and limitations as well as the relevance and potential contributions of your idea.
Submission: Please provide your name and affiliation and make sure that the presentation is clear, coherent, and visually appealing. Please also use an ORIGINAL idea for this submission.
Timeline & Selection for Winners
Winners will be selected by a team of judges that consists of professors from top schools, including Ivy League schools like Harvard.
ROUND 1 (Should be completed by the first week of August.)
The judges will nominate a TBD amount of papers/ideas and decide the nominees as a committee after reading TBD amount of papers individually.
ROUND 2 (Should be completed by the 2nd—3rd week of August.)
Nominees will have been chosen from the participants.
Rejection emails will also be sent to those who aren’t nominees.
ROUND 3 (Should be completed by the 3rd week of August.)
finalists will have been selected at this point.
ROUND 4 (Should be completed by the 4th week of August.)
Winners will have been selected at this point.
Prizes will be awarded in the form of potential one-on-one interviews with the judges, monetary prizes from sponsors, and certification.
